The Second Western Balkans Rectors’ Forum, a gathering of 20 university rectors from the region, will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 2:00 PM in the Aula of the University of Zagreb (Trg Republike Hrvatske 14).
The universities represented include those in Banja Luka, Belgrade, Bihać, Ljubljana, Maribor, Mostar, Novi Pazar, Novi Sad, Rijeka, Sarajevo, Tirana, Tuzla, Zagreb, Zenica, the University of Arts in Belgrade, two universities in Priština (one based in Kosovska Mitrovica), the University of Montenegro, the “St. Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje, and the “St. Kliment Ohridski” University in Bitola.
The University of Sarajevo will be represented at this important event by Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, the Rector, and Prof. Sanja Burić, Vice-Rector for Arts, Culture, and Sports.
During the forum, the rectors of 20 universities will sign an agreement to establish a Western Balkans Universities Network, which will enhance cooperation and joint activities among these universities in the fields of science, higher education, research, and knowledge transfer. Based on the agreement, the signatories will collaborate and work towards achieving common goals and interests, contributing through their activities to the development of academic and broader social communities.
The First Western Balkans Rectors’ Forum was held in September 2018 at the University of Novi Sad. The second forum in Zagreb is being held as part of the celebration of the Day of the University of Zagreb and marks the beginning of its 350th academic year.
