The University of Ljubljana hosted the 5th Rectors’ Forum of Southeast Europe and the Western Balkans.

At the 5th Rectors’ Forum, around 30 rectors and other representatives of universities from Southeast Europe and the Western Balkans, who collaborate in the fields of education, research, knowledge transfer, and applications for European projects, met. A new member, the Jagiellonian University (Poland), joined the Rectors’ Forum at this meeting.

Among other topics, the participants were introduced to the European project EUTOPIA, led by the University of Ljubljana, which officially started on December 1, 2019. The University of Ljubljana is the only institution from all EU13 member states that, under the first Erasmus+ 2019 pilot call: European Universities, obtained a six-million-euro coordinating project titled EUTOPIA – European Universities Transforming to an Open Inclusive Academy for 2050. The aim of the project is to prepare a long-term strategy for transforming the university in line with modern practices and approaches in the knowledge market, which will accelerate the integration of all four pillars: research, education, innovation, and knowledge transfer to society.

The Rectors gathered in the Chamber Hall and in the afternoon they visited the Postojna Cave.
